Term 3 2026

Good afternoon everyone, and welcome back to Term 3, 2026. We hope you all enjoyed a relaxing and enjoyable break. This term will bring several exciting changes to our play sessions, the relaunch of our Toy Library, and the introduction of a new staff member to our team.

Program Focus
Following on from last term’s focus on health, safety and nutrition, our focus this term will be transport, roads and traffic, and emergency services. Additional information and resources for families will be available at play sessions and through our social media channels.
We are also hoping to organise a bus and train excursion for children and families as our Term 3 special event. Last term, families had the opportunity to attend the Conservatorium of Music production of Peter and the Wolf. Feedback from those who attended was very positive, and we look forward to providing more musical and theatrical experiences for our Gubi community in the future.
It was also wonderful to see families come together for our Child First Aid event. The opportunity to connect with the wider community was well received by both children and parents.
One of the venues used generated significant interest, and with strong family support and attendance numbers, we are pleased to announce that we can now offer weekly play sessions in Walcha. Please help spread the word!

Venues

  • Guyra sessions will return to a fortnightly schedule, as most existing members have chosen to attend Bald Blair on alternate weeks. Unfortunately, due to low attendance numbers, our trial at Chandler School concluded at the end of Term 2.

  • Our Ebor venue has been relocated to Hernani Hall, making the session more accessible for attending families.

Toy Library Relaunch
We are excited to relaunch our Toy Library this term in two formats:

  1. Gubi Warehouse
    Weekly Friday 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

  2. Mobile Toy Library: These mobile sessions will be held at local parks. We invite families in these locations to come along, catch up, say hello, and enjoy a complimentary tea or coffee. The van will be stocked with resources available for borrowing, and a catalogue will be available for booking larger toys and equipment.
Monthly on Thursdays in Guyra and Walcha 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Welcome to Our New Team Member
We are pleased to welcome Jaclyn to the Gubi team. Jaclyn will initially be working on Tuesdays, with the possibility of increasing her hours as opportunities arise. She is an experienced, diploma-qualified educator who has recently moved to the area. Please make her feel welcome when you see her at sessions.

Family Surveys
Surveys were shared on our venue Facebook pages last term, and we would greatly appreciate your feedback. As attendance numbers continue to fluctuate, your responses will help us better understand the needs of families and improve our service delivery. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey and provide honest feedback so we can continue to tailor our programs wherever possible.

Reminders

As it is cold and flu season, please help prevent the spread of illness by:

  • Using hand sanitiser regularly

  • Washing hands thoroughly

  • Practising correct nose blowing and cough etiquette

Please also remember:

  • Car park safety is important—always supervise your little ones closely.

  • Sign in upon arrival at each venue.

  • Encourage your child to help pack away resources at the end of each session.

We look forward to catching up with you all and working alongside your families throughout Term 3.

Parent information and education will be forwarded to families via handouts, media and course information throughout the term.

3 Courses have been booked for parents and carers to attend to undergo training in child first aid. These courses will be run at Armidale, Guyra and Walcha. Please let us know if you will be attending. Childcare will be available and Gubi will supply lunch and Morning Tea.

Mother’s Day Morning Tea
