Ingredients:
2 cups plain flour
1 cup salt
2 tbsp cooking oil
1 tsp cream of tartar
2 cups water
Food colouring (a few drops, or more for stronger colour)
Directions
Add the food colouring to the water and mix well.
Place all the ingredients (flour, salt, oil, cream of tartar, and the coloured water) into a medium or large saucepan.
Cook over medium to medium-high heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and pulls away from the sides of the pan (usually 3–5 minutes).
Remove from heat and let it cool until it’s comfortable to handle.
Knead briefly on a clean surface until smooth.
That’s it — simple and ready to play with!
Tips
Store in an airtight container or zip-lock bag; it keeps for weeks.
If it feels sticky, knead in a little extra flour. If it’s too dry, add a tiny bit of oil or water.
For brighter colours, use gel food colouring instead of liquid.
